Some mergers and acquisitions take months to complete, but Nvidia's purchase of Ageia has apparently gone through a tad quicker than that. Nvidia has announced that it completed its acquisition today, barely nine days after first making the deal public.
Nvidia plans to reveal more details about the acquisition during a conference call this afternoon. Until then, all we know about Nvidia's plans is what CEO Jen-Hsun Huang stated last week: "By combining the teams that created the world's most pervasive GPU and physics engine brands, we can now bring GeForce®-accelerated PhysX to hundreds of millions of gamers around the world." In the buyout completion announcement, Nvidia reiterates that Ageia's PhysX software has been "widely adopted" in more than 140 games on the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.
