Last month, we saw leaked slides that foretold the arrival of 45nm, Phenom-derived Athlon processors with two, three, and four cores. Now, HKEPC has posted a new roadmap that says exactly which chips are coming out when—and how fast they'll run.
If there's any truth to this information, expect AMD to introduce two quad-core Athlon X4 processors clocked at 2.5 and 2.7GHz in April. The firm will also launch two Athlon X3s clocked at 2.6 and 2.8GHz that same month, and it will follow up in June with a pair of Athlon X2s running at 2.7 and 2.8GHz. The quad- and dual-core models will all feature 2MB of cache per chip, while the triple-core models will have only 1.5MB—presumably 512KB per core.
HKEPC's roadmap also reiterates the information that appeared last month. To sum up, that article says AMD will release two quad-core Phenom IIs with DDR2 memory support in January, followed by four DDR3-compatible models in Feburary and a fifth one in April. Also in February, AMD will supposedly unveil two triple-core Phenom IIs. All Phenom II-branded chips will apparently have 4-6MB of L3 cache, which will bump per-chip cache sizes to 6-8MB.
